'Embraced and Reassured' is a compilation of field recordings and sound collages. It is both an exercise in participatory listening, as well a vehicle for travelling across the world, released at a time when travel restrictions prevent most of us not only from travelling abroad, but also from moving freely in our own cities and neighbourhoods.
The compilations offers 10 unique sound documents by recordists from around the globe. Recordings of frogs in Eastern Europe sit alongside conversations about riots in a small town in Southern Chile; the sound of a kettle boiling in a home follows recordings of wind making charango strings vibrate in Morocco. Descriptions of all the recordings can be found below.
All proceeds from this digital compilation will be donated to Hackney Foodbank, an organisation helping local people in crisis. After the label's relocation to Bratislava, Slovakia, all proceeds are being donated to Vagus, an organisation helping people experiencing homelessness.
Jonáš Gruska "Bombina, Rusovce"
A recent recording of frogs near a lake on the fringes of Bratislava.
Kajsa Lindgren "Cortona Church Bells"
"A cacophony of church bells that rang everyday during my residency in Cortona, Italy." The sound can be heard in "Melodies" from 'Everyone is here'.
Haco "Faito!"
A binaural recording by Haco in a gymnasium at a middle school in Awaji Island, Japan, in June 2011.
"I recorded this during the sound installation project with the film director, Werner Penzel. His daughter belonged to a female tennis club at the junior high school, and at the end of their training, the students used to run ten laps with shouting 'Faito!'"
Olli Aarni "Juhannuksena Mankinsaaressa"
A recording from Mankinsaari captured during last year's summer solstice.
Kate Carr "The day elephants surrounded our car"
Recordings from South Africa.
Tomás Tello "Máquina Natural (Charango y viento)"
A field recording made on a beach in Diabat, Morocco. The wind making the charango strings vibrate.
Cucina Povera "Garturkin Keittiöjengi"
A short recording of kettle.
Jake Muir "Sailing, Los Angeles, July 31st 2018"
Soundscape of sailing.
Melquíades "Puyuhuapi, Carretera Austral"
"A recording made next to a food food truck in a town called Puyuhuapi in Southern Chile, where I was stuck for a few days as buses only left every 2 days. They had a big speaker playing super loud music but as I sat down to eat, it stopped working, so I listened to the conversations between the owners and the customers about the town and the riots happening in the capital during the last months of 2019."
Claire Rousay "A Reluctant Interview"
Domestic sound collage.

This music Marta created, holds stillness and space just as much as it holds notes and chords, and it is in those spaces between notes that captured my attention so much. This music requires some patience and is for everyone, but I find it gorgeous. Especially when everything finally comes together on the last track, "music" with a choirs wordless vocals taking the chord changes and melody all the way to the climactic ending. Joe Borreson

Memory and reality blur in the ambient music of Kajsa Lindgren. Based on archival recordings found in her parents' basement, the Swedish composer sends sonorous strings and piano through echoes of the past. Lars Gotrich
